The brief for this charming play area, integrated into the kitchen, was to bringorganisation to the space and create a playful, inviting zone where thechildren could enjoy themselves while one of the parents is cooking or spendingtime in the adjacent living room. The goal was to design a functional yetbeautiful corner that seamlessly blends into the family home.
Design Highlights
Custom-made small children’s table to suit the space and existing chairs
Freshly painted feature wall to create a lively, cheerful atmosphere
Reuse and repair of existing chairs and IKEA Trofast console for sustainability and continuity
Addition of accent lighting and a hangingpendant light to enhance the overall aesthetic
Organised storage for craft materials and toys, using the IKEA console with beautifully customised wooden labels
Retention of the framed chalkboard, which complemented the new design perfectly
From Overflow to Organised
Transforming this adorable corner of the family kitchen was a true delight. With a fresh designperspective, we introduced a new, cheerful colour palette and commissioned alocally made custom children’s table to match the existing chairs — evenrepairing one to maintain its charm.
The IKEA Trofast shelfwas cleverly used for organisation, allowing the children’s art supplies, toys,and craft materials to be neatly stored in separate compartments, each finishedwith personalised wooden labels to make tidying up fun and easy.
The framed chalkboardwas kept as a playful feature, working beautifully within the updated design.The new accent lighting and carefully selected pendant light tied the wholespace together, making the play area both functional and inviting.
This revitalised playcorner is now a perfect, joyful spot for creative activities and quiet play,right in the heart of the home.
